METALCRAFTERS
Draft for review — not yet approved

Drug & Alcohol Policy

Company-Wide
Metalcrafters’ job descriptions require a pre-employment background check and drug screen, but there is no written drug & alcohol policy on file. This draft provides one for a safety-sensitive fabrication, field, and driving environment. Requires review by an employment attorney (NC) before use.

Purpose

Metalcrafters is committed to a safe, productive, drug-free workplace. Fabrication, installation, equipment operation, and driving are safety-sensitive — impairment puts everyone at risk.

Prohibited Conduct

Prescription Medication

If a prescribed or OTC medication may impair your ability to safely perform safety-sensitive duties, notify your manager before working. Metalcrafters will handle this confidentially and reasonably. [Confirm accommodation process with counsel.]

Testing

[Specify the testing provider, panels, and procedures with counsel.]

Consequences

A positive test, refusal to test, or violation of this policy will result in action under the Progressive Discipline Policy, up to and including termination. For safety-sensitive roles, the employee is immediately removed from duty pending review.

Confidentiality

Test results and related medical information are kept confidential and shared only with those who have a legitimate need to know.

Employee Acknowledgment

I acknowledge that I have received, read, and understand the Metalcrafters Drug & Alcohol Policy, including the testing circumstances and that a violation may result in discipline up to termination.
